Wow! Stayed up long enough last night to see Obama give his eloquent acceptance speech as President-elect of the USA. As I said, amazing times… something I never expected to see when, as a university student, I “sat in” in front of the US Consulate during the Selma marches all those years ago.
This evening I watched via internet as the name of my grandfather’s cousin, John Lance Smeed, was displayed on the National War Memorial in Ottawa as part of the 1914 – 1918 Vigil for Canadians who fell during WW I. Just a few seconds, but thrilling to watch. Thank you to R.H. Thomson for conceiving the idea.
