The Darling Buds of May

… I think that’s the name of an English TV show. But it sure fits the season. The new header was taken this past weekend in the Niagara region where we attended a play at the Shaw Festival and then a wedding.
The play was “Brief Encounters” by Noel Coward. I always enjoy period pieces for the scenery and costumes, in this case, the thirties.
The wedding was that of the son of one of Mike’s former teaching colleagues. The wedding was outdoors at the Botanic Gardens and the reception was at the restaurant at the Brock Monument at Queenston Heights. A great venue with excellent food and a wonderful view over the Niagara River and out to Lake Ontario. The windy weather cleared the air and we could even see the CN Tower and the rest of the Toronto skyline.
We got home in time on Sunday for Elizabeth and I to visit Mum for Mother’s Day. While we were there Frances and Lucy gave Mum a call from England.
I also got to talk to Vanessa and open the present she gave me a couple of weeks ago. All in all a good day!
