Darrell Adolphus Rolph, age 74, of Stratford passed away peacefully at the Stratford General Hospital on Wednesday July 4, 2012. Born in Logan Township, son of the late Adolphus (Dib) and Beatrice (Pride) Rolph. He was a long-time employee of Bell Canada, where he worked for 34 years until his retirement in 1990. Darrell volunteered much of his time to his community, where he was a very active member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch # 8, Stratford, the Kinsmen Club and the Masonic Lodge. He was also a member of Central United Church, Stratford, past president of Conestoga Council of the Telephone Pioneers of America, Mitchell Town Council and Stratford ABI (Acquired Brain Injury) Group. Darrell also volunteered with the Special Olympics, drove for cancer patients, coached hockey and baseball. Most of all he enjoyed being part of his grandchildren’s lives.
Beloved husband of Joan (Milne-Wood) Rolph whom he married June 5, 1981. Loving father of Cindy McClure (Paul) of Mitchell, Jeff Rolph (Liz) of Guelph, Susan Rolph (Chris) of Stratford. Dear step father of Chris Wood (Laurie) of London, Kevin Wood (Sue) of Goderich, Jeff Wood (Donna) of Stratford. Cherished grandfather of Pat, Shayne and Eric McClure, Jon, Kenny, Carly Rolph, Shawn and Craig Wood, Rachel Wood, Shaina and Jeff Jr. Wood, and Averlee Sartori .
Also survived by brothers Ken (Helen), Clare (Joan), Barry (Doris), sister-in-law Norma Rolph, brothers and sisters-in-law Orlin and Helen Rose, Clare and Joanne French, Murray and Sandra Milne, Ron and Bev Milne. Lovingly remembered by special friend Martin.
Predeceased by his 1st wife Jane (Rose) 1979, brother Don Rolph (2011), grandson baby James Wood (1991), sisters -in-law Shirley, Helen and Joan.
